Wheel Alignment - Fixacar Brisbane

About This Service

Wheel alignment refers to the angle and direction your wheels are set relative to each other and to the vehicle. Even a small misalignment causes uneven tyre wear, affects fuel economy and makes the car pull to one side. Fixacar performs 4-wheel alignment at all Brisbane locations using computerised alignment equipment.

Misalignment is one of the most common causes of premature tyre wear. A vehicle that is out of alignment by just a few millimetres can wear through a set of tyres thousands of kilometres earlier than it should. Regular alignment checks are one of the cheapest ways to extend tyre life and maintain safe handling.

Signs your wheels need alignment

  • Car pulls to the left or right on a straight road
  • Steering wheel is off-centre when driving straight
  • Uneven tyre wear - more wear on one edge than the other
  • Steering wheel vibrates at highway speeds
  • You have recently hit a kerb or pothole hard
  • You have had suspension or steering components replaced

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get a wheel alignment?

We recommend a wheel alignment check at least once a year, or every 10,000 to 15,000 km. You should also get an alignment after hitting a significant pothole or kerb, and after any suspension or steering repair.

What is the difference between wheel alignment and wheel balancing?

Alignment refers to the angle of the wheels relative to the vehicle and each other. Balancing refers to the even distribution of weight around the wheel and tyre assembly. Both affect handling and tyre wear, but they are different procedures.

Can bad alignment damage my car?

Yes. Persistent misalignment accelerates wear on tyres, wheel bearings, ball joints and other suspension components. Correcting alignment early is much cheaper than replacing worn components later.

Do you need to do a wheel alignment after replacing tyres?

It is strongly recommended. Fitting new tyres on a misaligned vehicle will wear them unevenly from day one. We recommend an alignment check with every tyre replacement.

Does wheel alignment affect fuel economy?

Yes. A misaligned vehicle has increased rolling resistance, which means the engine works harder and uses more fuel. Correct alignment can improve fuel economy by a small but measurable amount.
