Engine Diagnostics Brisbane
Find out exactly what your car is trying to tell you
About This Service
Modern vehicles have dozens of sensors monitoring everything from engine temperature to exhaust emissions. When something goes wrong, the engine management system logs a fault code and triggers a warning light. At Fixacar, we use professional-grade diagnostic equipment to read fault codes, interpret what they mean, and identify the root cause - not just clear the light and hope for the best.
A check engine light can mean anything from a loose fuel cap to a failing catalytic converter. Ignoring it rarely makes the problem go away, and in some cases a minor issue can cause secondary damage if left unaddressed. Professional diagnostics give you a clear picture of what is wrong and what it will cost to fix, so you can make an informed decision.

- Engine is running rough or misfiring
- Poor fuel economy that has worsened recently
- Hesitation or stumbling on acceleration
- Engine stalling or difficulty starting
- Unusual smells from the exhaust
- Any dashboard warning light you are unsure about

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just clear the check engine light myself?
You can clear the light with an OBD reader, but the fault code will return if the underlying problem is not fixed. Clearing the light without diagnosing the cause can also mask a problem that gets worse over time.
What does a flashing check engine light mean?
A flashing check engine light indicates an active misfire that is severe enough to damage the catalytic converter. You should reduce speed, avoid hard acceleration and have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible.
Do you diagnose European vehicles?
Yes. We have diagnostic equipment for European makes including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo and Peugeot, in addition to all Japanese, Korean and Australian vehicles.
How long does a diagnostic take?
A basic fault code scan takes around 30 minutes. More complex diagnostics involving live data analysis or component testing can take 1 to 2 hours. We will give you an estimate when you book.
Will you fix the problem on the same day?
In many cases yes, depending on what parts are required. We will advise you after the diagnostic whether same-day repair is possible or whether parts need to be ordered.
