Car Battery & Electrical Brisbane
From a flat battery to complex electrical faults
About This Service
A failing battery is one of the most common causes of a car that won't start. But electrical problems in modern vehicles go well beyond the battery - alternators, starter motors, fuses, relays and complex wiring systems all play a role. Fixacar tests and replaces batteries and diagnoses electrical faults across all four Brisbane locations.
Car batteries typically last 3 to 5 years in Queensland's climate. The heat accelerates battery degradation, which means Brisbane drivers often get less life from a battery than the manufacturer's estimate. A battery that is struggling to hold charge will eventually leave you stranded, usually at the worst possible time.
Signs your battery or electrical system needs attention

- Clicking sound when turning the key but engine does not start

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a car battery last in Brisbane?
Most car batteries last 3 to 5 years. Brisbane's heat is harder on batteries than cooler climates, so you may find batteries at the lower end of that range. We recommend a battery test at every service for vehicles over 3 years old.
Can you replace my battery on the spot?
In most cases yes. We stock a wide range of batteries and can replace most standard batteries on the same day. Some European and hybrid vehicles require specific batteries that may need to be ordered.
Do I need to reset anything after a battery replacement?
Some vehicles require a battery registration procedure after replacement, particularly European makes like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. We carry out this procedure as part of the battery replacement on vehicles that require it.
What causes a car battery to drain overnight?
A battery that drains overnight usually has a parasitic drain - something drawing current when the car is off. Common causes include a faulty module, a stuck relay, an aftermarket accessory or a wiring fault. We can test for parasitic drain and identify the source.
Can you test my alternator?
Yes. We test alternator output as part of our electrical check. A failing alternator will not charge the battery properly, which leads to repeated battery failures.
