Air Conditioning Regas - Fixacar Brisbane

About This Service

Brisbane summers are no time to be without working air conditioning. If your car's AC is blowing warm air, taking longer to cool down or making unusual noises, it is time for a service. Fixacar performs air conditioning regassing and full AC system diagnostics and repairs at all four Brisbane locations.

Car air conditioning systems lose refrigerant gradually over time, even without a visible leak. Most vehicles lose around 10-15% of their refrigerant per year through normal permeation. A regas restores the correct refrigerant level and often brings the system back to full performance. If the system has a leak, we find and fix it before regassing so the refrigerant does not simply escape again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does a car AC need regassing?

Most vehicles benefit from a regas every 2 to 3 years. If your system has a leak, it may need attention sooner. We check refrigerant level as part of our AC service.

What refrigerant does my car use?

Most vehicles manufactured before 2017 use R134a refrigerant. Newer vehicles use R1234yf, which is more environmentally friendly but more expensive. We handle both types.

Can you fix an AC leak?

Yes. We locate leaks using UV dye and electronic detection, then repair the source before regassing. Common leak points include the compressor shaft seal, condenser, evaporator and hose connections.

Why does my AC smell musty?

Musty smells are usually caused by mould or bacteria growing on the evaporator. We can treat the evaporator with an antibacterial solution and replace the cabin air filter to eliminate the smell.

Is window tinting available at all Fixacar locations?

Window tinting is exclusively available at our West End store at 12 Ferry Rd. It is not available at Bowen Hills, Coorparoo or Virginia.
